Chartered on 2 February 1940, The Ruidoso Evening Lions Club, then just called the Ruidoso Lions Club, is probably the oldest civic organization in Ruidoso. The founding members of the club include a virtual who's-who of Ruidoso history; Clayton Bennett, Ted Collier, C.C. Chase, Chas Culver, L,F, Dryden, W.H. Evans, Montie Gardenhire, W.L. Hoover, Jack Hull, A.F. Parsons, G.E. Robbins, B.O. Rooney, L.A, Roll, R.W.B. Rockett, W.L. Smith, James A. Travis and Ike Wingfield. |

The Ruidoso Evening Lions meet each Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Lions Club Hut located at 106 South Overlook, that's behind Chef Lupe's Restaurant on Sudderth Drive. Evening Lions Club meetings include having a meal catered by Lawrence Brothers IGA. After the meeting member who are so inclined can participate in the traditional Evening Lions Club card game. |
