All runs, including Apache Bowl, are open for skiing. They bring their own instrument and/or sing, play, there are comedy acts, singers, players, etc. Everyone is allowed to do 3 songs or 15 minutes, whichever comes first. For information on hiking, camping or other activities visit the Smokey Bear Ranger Station on Mechem Drive, just north of Cree Meadows Drive. Sunrise to Sunset - Fitness trail hiking. Sierra Blanca Trail circles The Links at Sierra Blanca Golf Course. It is fairly level and asphalt covered. There are 1 mile, 1.5 mile, 2.9 mile and 3.5 mile loops. You can park at White Mountain Sports Complex off Hull Road, at Village Hall on Cree Meadows Drive or behind White Mountain Schools (when school is not in session). Restrooms are available next to the baseball field. Grindstone Trail was recently developed by Eco-Servants and includes about a 2.5 mile loop beginners trail and a 4 mile loop. This is a soft, cross country type trail with some slight hills. Parking at the lake. Porta-potties available. Non-motorized vehicles allowed. Wingfield Park Events Meadow Trail is in Midtowm Ruidoso, one block south of Sudderth Drive. There are 1/4 mile and 3/4 mile loop trails of crushed stone. Parking at the park and restrooms available. Non-motorized vehicles permitted. Ruidoso River Trail at Two Rivers Park, behind the Chamber of Commerce on Sudderth Drive, is about a 1/4 mile of soft surface trail along the Rio Ruidoso. Alto Lake Trail, located off Highway 48 north of Ruidoso, is about a .5 mile loop around the lake and about a 1.5 mile trail over the dam and through some beautiful scenery. The trail around the dam is narrow in places on the south side but level. Going over the dam is steep and rocky, but easy walking once you are past that. Parking is available at the entrance. Porra-potties and picnic tables are available. Cedar Creek Fitness Trail, maintained by the U.S. Forest Service, is behind Smokey Bear Ranger Station on Mechem Drive. There are 1/4 mile and 1/3 mile loop trails with outdoor fitness equipment available for use. Parking is available, but no restroom facilities. Dogs and bikes are not allowed on this trail. Additional hiking is all around Ruidoso and Ruidoso Downs. See the rangers at Smokey Bear Ranger Station for maps. You can hike a short distance with the family or walk for days without seeing anyone. Sunrise to Sunset - Tennis Courts are available at School House Park, on Sudderth Drive, and at the White Mountain Sports Complex, off Hull Road. Open to the public and free. Parking and restrooms are close by both facilities. Sunrise to Sunset - Basketball Courts are available at All American Park in Ruidoso Downs. Located next to the playground, these concrete courts are free and open to the public. Sunrise to Sunset - Ruidoso Dog Park, located on the south side of the parking lot at White Mountain Sports Complex off Hull Road. Two fenced areas for small and large dogs to run and play. Donated by the humane Society of Lincoln County, this is a great place to take the dogs for some exercise and fun. Outside the park, dogs are required to be on a leash in Ruidoso. Sunrise to Sunset - Sand Volleyball Court, located at the White Mountain Sports Complex. Usually available on a first-come-first-serve (pun there) basis. Free and open to the public. Made possible by SADD and DWI funding at Ruidoso Schools. 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Golf at Cree Meadows Golf and Country Club on Country Club Drive. Buildings and displays include the Anderson-Freeman Visitor's Center, Montano Store, Torreon, Jan Juan Mission, Tunstall Store, Dr. Wood's House, and the Lincoln Courthouse Museum. Admission is $5 per person, $1 for Seniors Group (10), 16 and younger admitted free. New Mexico residents admitted free on Sunday. New Mexico Seniors admitted free on Wednesday. 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Horseback Riding at Runnel's Bonito Stables on Bonito Lake Road. $20 an hour. Bring cash because they don't have a phone or electricity at the stable, so no credit cards. 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Horseback Riding at Alto Hombre Gordito Hideout. Horse stables and guided horseback riding into the Lincoln National Forest. A great way to discover the fun of horseback riding. $30 per person per hour. What compels us to keep searching for the perfect baseball card or the most beautiful painting? Anne Stradling was a collector. Before she turned her collection over to the Hubbard Museum of the American West, she had gathered together objects from 300 years of her family history as well as practically anything related to horses, including saddles, bits, blankets, statues, carriages, and wagon models. The Smokey Bear Historical Park is located on highway 380 (better known as 118 Smokey Bear Blvd.) in the heart of the Village of Capitan and is open everyday of the year except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years day. Entrance fees into the park are $2.00 for adults, $1.00 for children 7-12. Children 6 and under are free. Smokey Bear Historical Park is operated by EMNRD-Forestry Division. 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Ruidoso River Museum open at 101 Mechem Drive in the building which previously housed Rush Ski Shop. The museum will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday through Monday. The museum will be open 7-days a week now during the Christmas Holidays. Admission is $5 for Adults and $2 for Children. 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Fort Stanton Museum and Gift Shop open to the public You can see the historic buildings, picnic on the grounds and enjoy the day at Fort Stanton.
