7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. – Helen Hinch Memorial Park and Bird Sanctuary, East of Capitan on Highway 380. Open during daylight hours. Bird Sanctuary is operated by the Lincoln County Bird Club.

8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Lincoln Historic Monument open in Lincoln. Buildings and displays include the Anderson-Freeman Visitor's Center, Montano Store, Torreon, Jan Juan Mission, Tunstall Store, Dr. Wood's House, and the Lincoln Courthouse Museum. Admission is $5 per person, $1 for Seniors Group (10), 16 and younger admitted free. New Mexico residents admitted free on Sunday. New Mexico Seniors admitted free on Wednesday.

9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Ski Apache Open. Ski Apache is reporting 3 inches of new snow overnight on top of the 6 inches from Monday and the 7 inch of new snow from Sunday night. The total snow fall for the season at Ski Apache is an incredible 194 inches. Midway snow depth is reported at 55 inches. The Gondola is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Chair lift 7 is open Saturday and Sunday. Apache Bowl is open, for the first time in years. All the lifts are open with 100 percent of the runs open for skiing. Terrain Parks are open for Boarding. Lift tickets are $51 for adults, $45 for Seniors (60 years and older), $41 for military personnel, $43 for teens (13-17 years) and $32 for children under 13. Season pass prices range from $290 to $600 for adults, $400 for teens and $275 for children. Group ticket discounts are also available in addition to one-day individual ski and snowboard equipment rentals, $20 for adults and $12 for children, as well as demo skis and additional day rentals. Ski Apache vacation packages are also available by visiting www.SkiApache.com For those looking to save a little gas this winter, the Ski Apache Super Shuttle operates daily with full and half day options for $20 per round trip, door to door.

9:00 a.m. - Line Dancing at the Ruidoso Downs Senior Center until 11:00 a.m.

9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – 1 and 2 Hour Guided Trail Rides in the Lincoln National Forest with Cowboys Riding Stables in Ruidoso Downs. Whether you are riding the scenic trails in the beautiful Lincoln National Forest or sitting on our deck enjoying our wonderful New Mexico weather, we strive to make our stables a clean and comfortable place for your family. Most of the people who come to our stables have never ridden before. This is no problem, our horses are extremely gentle. Before each ride we make sure that everyone receives a short lesson on riding basics and answer any questions.  We also have helmets available at no extra cost. Young children (ages 2-4) can ride double with their parents at no charge.  We do no take children younger than 2.  With children who are too big to ride with their parents, my guide can lead their horse and they can have the experience of riding alone but not having to guide the horse. 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Biennal Grande at the Hubbard Museum of the American West in Ruidoso Downs starting at 9:00 a.m. Biennale Grande is a juried art show, open only to New Mexico artists. This exhibit will be hosted every two years by the Hubbard Museum.  It includes paintings, drawings, sculpture and mixed media.  This show will run through April 11.  More Info: 575-378-4142. 

9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Ancient New Mexico Exhibit at at the Hubbard Museum of the American West in Ruidoso Downs An In-depth exhibit of the peoples that inhabited the southwest from pre-historical periods up to the Spanish exploration. Runs through October 2010.

9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Smokey Bear Park is open in Capitan. The Smokey Bear Historical Park is located on highway 380 (better known as 118 Smokey Bear Blvd.) in the heart of the Village of Capitan and is open everyday of the year except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years day. Entrance fees into the park are $2.00 for adults, $1.00 for children 7-12.  Children 6 and under are free.  Smokey Bear Historical Park is operated by EMNRD-Forestry Division.

10:00 a.m. - 2 Hour or 4 Hour Trail Ride with Elite Outfitters. Elite Outfitters offers beautiful high-country trail rides in the White Mountain Wilderness Area of the Lincoln National Forest, near Ruidoso. A variety of ride lengths are offered to appeal to everyone who has ever dreamed of riding in the Rocky Mountains. Elite’s goal is to provide a true riding adventure for people of all experience levels. Come enjoy the magnificent New Mexico backcountry from the saddle. Call 575-354-1299.

10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Bicycle Rental at Boneshaker Cyclery at 2312 Sudderth in mid-town Ruidoso. Rent Mountain bikes, Road bikes, Kids bikes. All rentals come with a Helmet, Fresh Bottle of Water, Frame Pump and a Seat Pack with a Tube, Tire Levers and a Muti-Tool. All the things to Get you on the Trail and Keep you Riding' safe. 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Disc Golf Rental at Boneshaker Cyclery at 2312 Sudderth in mid-town Ruidoso. Rent the discs from Boneshaker Cyclery and play a round of disc golf for free at the Ruidoso Village Disc Golf Course at Grindstone and Resort Drive. Call 575-257-6784.

Every Wednesday & Thursday FREE creative experiences for ALL ages at Art Connection, a creative community art center in Ruidoso at 1703  Sudderth, in the shopping center with our friends at The Wild Herb Market and The Herb Stop from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Projects vary. Join Sierra Dove volunteers for hours of creative fun! *Donations Welcomed. Art Connection is seeking artists, volunteers and inspired community members who are interested in hosting a drop in art experience on days currently not scheduled or support a host on any days scheduled. We also invite artists and teachers to schedule your own workshops/ classes in our inspirational space!
