No swimming, wading or dogs wading permitted in Grindstone Lake. Peace Village is an annual summer camp for children 7-13 years of age. Curriculum includes Non-Violent Conflict Resolution, Media Literacy, Envision Your Future, Earth Awareness, music, games, forest walks, storytelling and an off-campus day at Angus Outdoor Education where childred will experience exciting activities. The cost per child is $90 and enrollment is limited to 40 children. The deadline is July 19th for applications. Donations for snacks and scholarships are needed. Whether you are riding the scenic trails in the beautiful Lincoln National Forest or sitting on our deck enjoying our wonderful New Mexico weather, we strive to make our stables a clean and comfortable place for your family. Most of the people who come to our stables have never ridden before. This is no problem, our horses are extremely gentle. Before each ride we make sure that everyone receives a short lesson on riding basics and answer any questions. We also have helmets available at no extra cost. Young children (ages 2-4) can ride double with their parents at no charge. We do no take children younger than 2. With children who are too big to ride with their parents, my guide can lead their horse and they can have the experience of riding alone but not having to guide the horse. The story of the renowned recording studio in Clovis, NM and those who made history there, including Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison. The exhibit will run May 29 through August 29. 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music at the Hubbard Museum of the American West in Ruidoso Downs. Ruidoso Downs is one of six communities that will host the exhibition, which is made available through the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street traveling exhibition program. It is sponsored in New Mexico by the New Mexico Humanities Council. The exhibition features artifacts, photographs, interactive, and sound recordings related to the history of music in the United States. Ranging from sacred music to blues to the folk revival, the history of American roots music is revealed and explored. The Hubbard Museum of the American West is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission to the Museum is $6.00 for adults, and reduced admission is available for senior citizens, military personnel, and youth. 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Ancient New Mexico Exhibit at at the Hubbard Museum of the American West in Ruidoso Downs An In-depth exhibit of the peoples that inhabited the southwest from pre-historical periods up to the Spanish exploration. The Smokey Bear Historical Park is located on highway 380 (better known as 118 Smokey Bear Blvd.) in the heart of the Village of Capitan and is open everyday of the year except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years day. Entrance fees into the park are $2.00 for adults, $1.00 for children 7-12. Children 6 and under are free.
