Rick's

              FAQ's

1)  Do you teach snow boarding?
     A. No I just ski. Better to do one thing well than two things half-assed.
2) What age and ability levels do you teach?
     A. I teach all ages and levels.
3) How much does it cost?
     A. See rate sheet.       ( Courtesy LINK below)
4) How long of a lesson should I take?
   A.   If it is a one on one situation one hour can be  sufficient. However, a lot of improvement can be seen in the extra 2 hours. If there is more than one person in the lesson I recommend at least 2 hours. I also recommend taking lessons for two or three consecutive days so that you can go out and play with what you’ve learned and then we can build on that before you forget it.
5) Do you travel to other areas with clients and ski with them there?
.   A. Absolutely, I’ve traveled with clients to Steamboat, Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Ski Cooper. And Taos. In fact I’ve taught in Taos and still have a great working relationship with them so if you’re planning a trip up there give me a call.     “Have skis will travel.”
6) What do you charge when you teach out of town?
     A.  $250 / day plus expenses. Compared to $660 for an all day private at  Deer Valley, $625 /day  at Vail Beaver Creek, $575 / day at Steamboat or $560 / day at Breckenridge and Keystone.

7) Do you have references?

    A. Absolutely, Feel free to contact:
* Ginger, Sumner and Taylor Evans:
Sumner and  Taylor are 12 and 10 and  have been  skiing with me for 5  or  6 years.
14509 Richmond     Little Elm,  TX     75068      214-929-6760
* John and Jerry Crawford
3701 Turtle Creek Blvd. Dallas, Tx  75219  214-214-676-7736

* Karla K. Steen and family
112 West 9th #630 Los Angles, CA 90075    48480-216-3755
8) When should I start my children?
  A. When THEY want to. If they don’t want to ski why waste the money to make them and YOU miserable. If they are under the age of seven start with an hour lesson and see how they do. You can always add time if they are having fun.
  9) Can anyone learn how to ski?
  A. Skiing is an athletic endeavor. If you have the desire to learn and you  like athletic things then yes, you can learn how to ski. If you don't have the desire and you don't like to do athletic things then maybe you should  bring a book and sit in the bar and enjoy yourself. Never, never, never, make a wife,  husband, boy friend or girl friend go skiing. It has all the making for a divorce or  very miserable weekend at best. Let your significant other do what they want and  you have a much better chance of “ getting lucky”.
10) What’s the difference between a private and group lesson? OR Is the private lesson worth the extra cost?
   A. You get what you pay for. Group lessons are less expensive but you will not get the individual attention  that you get from a private lesson. This is a question  that your own learning style and budget must make. Husbands and boy friends,  pony-up and put her in a private lesson. Your chance of  "getting lucky” improves exponentially  and you’re going to  have more fun too.
11)  When are you available?
   A. I hang out at Ski Apache every weekend unless I’m off skiing with clients in  Taos or at other areas. If you are planning to come up during the week call me and I’ll make arrangements to meet you. You should always call the ski school desk and make reservations because there are only so many hours in a ski day and I do get busy.
"If you are interested in the security of traveling with your own personal instructor (kind'a like having your own pilot) contact me through this web site or at 505-937-1061"
12) Are you married?
   A. No
13) How old are you?
    A. Old enough to know better but far to young to care.
  14) Do you know any good snow  board instructors?
  A. Yes, I can hook you up with the hottest riders at Ski Apache.
 In Taos  WE JUST SKI!
                                 And last but not least
15) When do deer turn into elk?  (Yes, this is a  real question)
  A. If you ever see a deer turn into an elk, stop smoking what ever   you’re  smoking and seek medical attention immediately.
